This was actually our second trip to Bretton Woods to take the Cog Train, opened in 1869, up to the top of Mt. Washington, the highest peak in New Hampshire. The train was only going 3/4 of the way up yesterday as the winds at the top were dangerous....100 plus miles an hour winds...OUCH!
So we decided to take beautiful pictures at the base and wait another day hoping the winds would calm down. Incredible, because at the base it was a fantastic, warm, clear, sunny day.
The next day we called in the morning and trains were heading to the top, so off we went.
We brought heavy sweaters and layered ourselves up for the 'chilly' top of Mt. Washington.
First in line, got us seats right at the front, on the left....for great pictures.
We started off and I was very scared. "What if's" drive me crazy but they are in my head.
As we headed to the peak the temperature changed dramatically from the beautiful day below.
When we reached the top...OMG!!! It was a blizzard, I kid you not. Stay tuned for "View at the top."
