The Red covered bridges are quite the thing in these parts. They are not really marked in advance, you seem to just happen upon them. The longer bridge is actually a gift shop next door to a quaint B&B. I walked along the river and bridge edge to take this photo. It is filled with mostly touristy souvenirs. Including a collection of bears. There are many references to "black bears" here.....seriously....I am afraid of bears! The other bridge we found, when we were a wee bit lost. I had to run across the highway to get that shot. I am not sure what it is about these bridges but we feel safe near them...an age gone by...a simpler life. You can't race across these.....You have to slow down....and breathe in the fresh mountain air.
