The King's Chapel

On the Freedom Trail this church is easily located as it is right at a corner. Had we looked up, and pre-read more about the church, we would have realized there is no steeple on this church? By design? No...lack of funds. Basic economics in the 1700's. They ran out of money.
But that is not really important today as compared to the history that surrounds this church. The chapel's bell is made by Paul Revere. It was his largest built and 'sweetest sounding.' Yes...he was a silversmith and engraver, when he wasn't doing a midnight ride.

This chapel was originally built in 1688.
The pulpit was built in 1717, and is the oldest in continuous use on the same site in the US.
The pews are designed and set up very different. Families 'bought' their

own 'pew boxes.' There are commemorative plaques on many to distinguish them. The bench inside would be for the adults and the children would play or sit on the floor. The top rows, second storey, would be for parishioners who could not afford to buy one.
Hmmmmmm.......
The church is as it was finished, since it's last renovations, in 1754. Outside of the church is it's burial ground. There is a woman buried there, as written, that
was a passenger on the Mayflower.
The picture on the bottom is a view of the Church with still no Steeple.
