This is totally jumping ahead in the day, but it is such a great story I have to share it first. Deb and I decided to just "wing" not plan our trip to Boston. Terrifying thought to me...but I am trying to relax and let go a wee bit....OMG! Had a fantastic day of discovering this historic city. But after lunch thought we should make accommodations arrangements. No hotels to be found in downtown Boston for less than $200. plus a night! What to do...what to do? I suggested we go to Starbucks, use the WiFi, and look at "Hotwire" (which my friend, Gail has suggested before) and viola....A room booked at the Omni Parker House. Fancy, dancy place. Across the street from the Old City Hall building and statue of Benjamin Franklin. JFK proposed to Jackie at table #40 in the restaurant in this hotel. The original Boston Cream Pie was invented here in this hotel's restaurant. ALL this for about $100. less than the hotel room price!!! OMG!!! We will ALWAYS use Hotwire from now on. Love our room and it is so central to everything we wanted to see.Lesson: You learn something new everyday.....and from a friend who lives in Australia.
